Umbria
The green heart of Italy
Umbria is the only province in Italy “without a sea”. The most famous place is probably Assisi – the city of Francis. Perugia is famous for chocolate, an internationally renowned jazz festival and a university for foreign students who want to learn the Italian language.
The pilgrimage route of St. Francis leads through Umbria. Monte Subbasio attracts visitors with its hiking trails, as do the Sibillini Mountains with their many special features. Extensive forests with waterfalls can be found in the south of Umbria. Castelluccio delights visitors with its flowering fields at the beginning of July. There are two large lakes: Lake Bolsena and Lake Trasimeno, one very deep, the other shallow, a unique ecosystem in the world.
Orvieto, the city on the Tuffberg, is not only famous for the Orvieto Classico, but also for its beautiful cathedral and a very good conservatory.
The Etruscans also lived primarily in Umbria. Several necropolises can be visited.
There is a truffle market in Città di Castello at the beginning of November. The town is famous for Alberto Burri: two museums dedicated solely to his art. These museums alone are worth a visit.
We organize your trip, including an excursion with fishermen on Lake Trasimeno, an Ape or Vespa ride. Visit Solomeo, the “Project for Beauty” by Brunello Cucinello or the Scarzuola. We have lots of tips for you.
